
The County
Longford Scuba divers Search & Rescue Club was established in 1989 in
Longford through the
leadership
of some members from the Newtowncashel/Lanesborough
area.
The Club have a strong
membership and offer an intensive training program that generally
begins in
October of
each year under the C.F.T. training course guidelines. The Club
actively
invites new members, generally in October
of every year at the start of a new
Training year.
The Clubs outdoor activities begin in
April, with regular trips to Mullaghmore, Ballyconnell
Lacken, Ballycastle and Lough Owel with
occasional trips to such places as Teelin,
Sheephaven, Co. Donegal, Kilkee Kinsale,
Valentia, and
Achill.
The Club also supports Search &
Rescue activities in the River Shannon and surrounding areas. If
assistance is
required, any Club member may be contacted to call upon Club
support.
The Club also supports a large
snorkeling interest, whereby, the club supports training for the junior
members. The club weekend
outing cater for Snorkelling with supervised Snorkeling activities and Boat trips for the Non divers among its
members.
